EPL: Mohamed Salah close to breaking Jamie Vardy’s record

Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah is closing in on Leicester City striker Jamie Verdy’s Premier League record after scoring in his side’s victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Salah scored his 14th Premier League goal of the season as Liverpool defeated Aston Villa to a 1-0 win at Anfield.

His contribution means he has either scored or assisted a goal in 14 consecutive league appearances, just one behind Vardy’s record of 15 games.

Vardy achieved the feat between August and December 2015.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, Salah earned Liverpool a penalty after he was brought down by Tyrone Mings.

The Egyptian international stepped forward to convert into the back of the net in the 67th minute.

Jurgen Klopp’s side held on to the lead and it extended their unbeaten run at Anfield to 17 games.

Meanwhile, Salah will now hope to continue his impressive display for Liverpool when they take on Newcastle United for their next league match on Thursday.
