Kaduna police confirm killing of lawmaker, order investigations

 


The Kaduna Police Commissioner, CP Mudassiru Abdullahi has ordered full scale investigation into the murder of a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Rilwanu Aminu Gadaga.

Gadaga, representing Giwa West Constituency, was killed by bandits when the motor he was traveling in, alongside other road users, rammed into bandits stationed along Kaduna-Zaria road.

Muhammed Jalige, Kaduna Police Command Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Thursday, sent to newsmen, noted with grief the killing of the lawmaker.

He added that, “the Kaduna Police Command is in receipt of an unfortunate incident of culpable homicide through Divisional Police Officer, Saye Division, Zaria that on 15th December, 2021, at about 0900hrs, information received from a good samaritan from Zura village has it that an unidentified motionless human body was seen lying in the bush.”

He said immediately it was discovered, the reports were sent to the appropriate authorities for urgent action.

According to him, the DPO on getting the information, immediately mobilised and led a team of policemen to the scene where a close and physical observation of the corpse was carried out and all necessary photographs taken.

The statement added that signs of violent injuries were noticed all over the lifeless body.

He said the body was thereafter evacuated to Hajiya Gambo Sawaba Hospital for autopsy.

He said preliminary investigations revealed the identity of the deceased as one Hon. Rilwanu Aminu Gadaga, a member of Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Giwa West Constituency

The Command said that it was saddened by the tragic loss of lives, just as the commissioner of Police had directed for a thorough investigation to be carried out to unravel the identities of the person or group of persons who carried out the dastardly act.

The statement condoled with the immediate family of the deceased, the government and the people of Kaduna State over the irreparable loss.
