UCL final: It’s him, not us – Sadio Mane distances himself from Salah’s ‘revenge’ comments

Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane has distanced himself from the ‘revenge’ mentality put forward by his teammate, Mohamed Salah ahead of their UEFA Champions final tie against Real Madrid on Saturday in Paris.

Salah has repeatedly stated that he is poised for revenge against Real Madrid come May 28 after he limped off injured in the 2018 showpiece against the same opponents.

Real Madrid won that game 3-1 to lift the trophy and Salah feels the result was due to a strong tackle from Sergio Ramos.

The Egyptian has, on more than one occasion, spoken about his desire to have revenge when the sides meet again this weekend.

But Mane, though, wants to approach the Paris final like any other game, adding that the revenge comments are Salah’s opinion, not the squad.

Speaking ahead of the Reds’ trip to the French capital, the Senegalese international said (via Goal): “This is special, Salah. This is Salah, not us. For sure, he said it, but for me, it’s just a game like all other games, which will be very, very difficult, and we expect it because (Real Madrid are) one of the best teams in the world.

“We have been there already, so I know that we will be ready for it. We’ll do everything possible to win the game.”
