In what appears as a strong move to pacified the Niger Republic coup leaders, the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has met with the military junta in Niamey.
Although a call put through to the Emir did not receive a response, Telegraph reported that the coup leaders were extremely happy with Sanusi’s visit.
An unconfirmed source avowed that the coup leaders took time to listen to the requests of the Emir, among which was for them to give a window of amicable resolutions to the problems.
Sanusi who was escorted to Niamey, capital of Niger Republic by some of his closest associates and staff, was warmly received by the new military junta.
The meeting reportedly focused on the way out of the quagmire in the country.
ECOWAS leaders are scheduled to meet on Thursday for the next line of actions after the seven-day deadline given to the coupists elapsed.
