A 28-year-old Lagos trader, Okonkwo Chikwado, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly having unlawful sexual intercourse with a teenage boy.
Chikwado, who resides at 2 Asake Street, Ishashi, Lagos State, is facing trial on a charge of sexual assault.
Prosecutor ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji told the court that the offence was allegedly committed on July 14 at the defendant’s residence. He said Chikwado lured the 15-year-old victim into his room under the guise of sending him on an errand before allegedly locking the door and assaulting him.
According to the prosecutor, the act contravenes Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate L. A. Owolabi did not take the defendant’s plea but ordered his remand at Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The matter was adjourned until October 22 for mention.
