Gunmen kill Abuja doctor, kidnap his 3 children

An Abuja-based veterinary doctor and former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT Chapter, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, has been killed by suspected kidnappers who also abducted his three children.

The tragic incident occurred on Friday night when gunmen invaded Dr. Ogbu’s residence in the Kubwa district along the Kubwa–Kaduna road. The assailants reportedly took him and his three children away, later dumping his body by the roadside.

Dr. Ogbu’s death was confirmed by Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu via a Facebook post, where he revealed that the deceased’s corpse was discovered after the abduction.

He wrote:

“Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, was found dead.

The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene.”

The late Ogbu was described as a dedicated professional and family man, leaving behind a grieving wife, who is reportedly nursing, and other family members.

Friends and colleagues have expressed shock over his killing, describing it as a devastating loss to both his family and the veterinary community.

The attack comes barely a week after Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, was killed during a robbery in the Katampe area of Abuja — highlighting growing concerns about insecurity in the capital.

As of press time, police authorities have not issued an official statement. Efforts to reach the FCT Police Command for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and WhatsApp messages went unanswered.
