The Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of the African Democratic Party (ADC), Elder Patrick Ambut, has described his purported suspension as a rumour that should not be taken seriously but aimed at embarrassing the party in the state and beyond.
The ADC state chairman, in a statement he signed on Tuesday and made available to Daily Post, explained that his purported suspension from the party did not originate from the party and such should be ignored.
He assured, “I remain the authentic chairman of the party in the state.”
The reaction of the chairman of the party followed a rumour making the rounds on social media, citing his suspension from the party.
According to Ambut, the letter in circulation about his suspension is laughable and not authentic, saying that the action is an attempt by the enemy of the party to see that the party does not succeed in the coming general elections in 2027, calling on such elements to refrain from such action.
The chairman said, “Looking at the so-called suspension letter that emanated from such elements, it is obvious that the letter lacks substance, simply because what could lead to my suspension was not clearly defined.
So, this is politics, and also an attempt to cause disunity and crisis among the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party and also among the party members.
“ADC is strong, united, and such an attempt by the ruling political party and a few elements within the party to cause disunity and crisis cannot succeed.”
Ambut, therefore, urged the public to consider such news as fake, calling on party members and supporters across the state and beyond not to take the elements behind such a letter seriously.
In his reaction to the development, the State Secretary of the party, Oluwatuyi Victor Olayinka, explained that the Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, and a few members are currently facing investigations bordering on holding illegal meetings, falsification of documents, unauthorized official communication to agencies, and are also agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
“Their mission is to cripple ADC in Kaduna,” he said.
The secretary further said that the illegal suspension is a gross violation of the ADC constitution and contrary to established party procedures.
According to him, “The Deputy Chairman acted without due process, as he lacks the constitutional authority to convene any meeting or issue such directives.
“According to the ADC Constitution, only the State Chairman has the power to convene a meeting, and this must be done through the State Secretary. Furthermore, it is on record that both the State Chairman and the State Secretary were duly elected by the Congress and remain the legitimate officers of the party in Kaduna State.
“The Deputy Chairman’s actions are therefore unauthorized, null, and void, and are viewed as a desperate attempt to usurp power and destabilize the activities of the party in the state, especially as we prepare for upcoming elections. It is also pertinent to note that the same Deputy Chairman is currently under investigation for gross misconduct, abuse of office, impersonation, and acts capable of causing disunity within the party.
“The leadership of ADC Kaduna State remains committed to peace, discipline, and the rule of law as enshrined in our party’s constitution. We therefore urge all members and the general public to disregard the purported suspension notice and continue with their legitimate party activities.”
This is just as the secretary called on the public to disregard the purported suspension notice issued by the ADC Kaduna State Deputy Chairman.
