The Kaduna State Police Command has announced that it will begin enforcing vehicle tinted glass permit regulations across the state starting Thursday, October 2.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the exercise was in line with existing laws and directives aimed at strengthening public safety and security.
“The command wishes to notify the public, particularly motorists, of the commencement of the enforcement of Vehicle Tinted Glass Permit Regulations, in line with extant laws and directives. This enforcement exercise will take effect from Thursday,” the statement read.
Hassan explained that all vehicle owners and drivers whose cars are fitted with tinted glasses whether factory-installed or aftermarket must ensure compliance by registering and obtaining the appropriate permit. He warned that failure to do so would attract sanctions as prescribed by law.
According to the command, motorists are required to complete an online registration process via https://possap.gov.ng before proceeding for physical verification at the Kaduna State Police Command headquarters. Applicants are expected to present their vehicle particulars, proof of ownership, and tinted glass specifications during the verification exercise.
“The public is urged to cooperate fully with the directive as the exercise is aimed at enhancing public safety and security across the state,” Hassan said.
He further assured law-abiding citizens that the enforcement would be carried out in a fair and professional manner, while emphasizing that it was not targeted at any individual or group.
Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad also appealed for public support, reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents.
“The command remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property and will continue to solicit the cooperation of stakeholders in sustaining peace and security in Kaduna State,” Hassan added on behalf of the commissioner.
The enforcement of tinted glass regulations has long been part of Nigeria’s policing framework, with authorities insisting that unregulated use of tinted windows poses security challenges, including aiding criminal activities. The Kaduna command’s renewed focus is expected to tighten compliance and discourage unlawful use across the state.
