The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the petrol pump price at its retail outlets in Wuse Zone 6 and Zone 4, Abuja, to ₦905 per litre, up from ₦890.
The new price reflects a ₦15 increase, representing a 1.7 per cent adjustment in the pump rate.
President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, attributed the price hike to supply disruptions caused by the recent standoff between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Refinery.
According to Maigandi, most independent marketers currently dispense petrol at prices ranging between ₦885 and ₦895 per litre, depending on supply costs and location.
“It is due to PENGASSAN’s strike disruption. However, our members still sell between ₦885 and ₦895 per litre,” he said.
The industrial dispute stemmed from PENGASSAN’s protest over the alleged mass sacking of Nigerian workers at the Dangote Refinery, which led to a two-day strike action.
Following the federal government’s intervention, the union suspended the strike to allow for further dialogue between the parties involved.
