Oyebanji mourns death of Ekiti Catholic Bishop emeritus Fagun

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has mourned the demise of the first Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, the Most Reverend Michael Olatunji Fagun.

Bishop Fagun died on Monday at the age of 90.

The Governor described Bishop Fagun’s death as a monumental loss to the government and people of Ekiti State.

He described Bishop Fagun as a man of impact, a fearless preacher who spoke truth to power and a role model to many people.

The Governor acknowledged the selfless service of the deceased as a priest and as a respected spiritual father who preached peaceful coexistence among adherents of different faiths and religions in his lifetime.

Governor Oyebanji said Bishop Fagun fought a good fight of faith, left legacies of integrity, humility, selfless service and love and care for the less privileged which should be emulated by contemporary leaders.

“On behalf of the Government and good people of Ekiti State commiserate with the Catholic Church and the family of the late Bishop Fagun on the passing of the great servant of God and pray that the good Lord grant his soul eternal rest”, the Governor added.
