Members of the Abia State House of Assembly have embarked on a visit to the United Kingdom for a “High Level” legislative seminar.
According to them, the vote of confidence stemmed from the performance of the governor in different sectors of the state.
Among those opposed to the trip is Eric Ikwuagwu, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who described the seminar as “pure excursion, sightseeing and jamboree”.
Ikwuagwu argued that the Abia Assembly members should have been understudying legislative practices in countries that practice presidential system of government just like Nigeria, and not the United Kingdom.
“This is is pure excursion, sightseeing and jamboree all in one.
“If they ever wish to understudy any legislature, it must be with states practising the Presidential System of Government, like Nigeria, definitely not UK that practices a different system,” Ikwuagwu said.
