Arsenal are moving quickly to tie down Jurrien Timber to a fresh contract following the Dutch defender’s impressive comeback from a long-term injury.
The 24-year-old, who joined from Ajax in 2023 for £34.4m, saw his debut season derailed after tearing his ACL on the opening day against Nottingham Forest. He spent almost the entire campaign on the sidelines.
Last season, however, Timber made a remarkable return, featuring in 51 matches and establishing himself as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice right-back. His performances this term have further underlined his importance to Arsenal’s title ambitions.
According to BBC Sport, preliminary talks are under way over a new deal that would extend Timber’s stay at the Emirates beyond 2028. Both club and player are reportedly eager to finalise the agreement.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also in discussions with Bukayo Saka over a new long-term contract, with confidence growing that the England international will commit his future to the Gunners.
