Three tankers carrying some quantities of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, have fallen in Oyo State.
Reports that the three incidents occurred within twenty-four hours in three separate locations in the state.
The first incident occurred at Lasi 2, Liberty Academy, Odo- Ona, Elewe in Ibadan on Wednesday, when a Mack trailer with registration number DEP175XB (Lagos) loaded with 33,000 litres capacity of PMS swerved into a nearby ditch and content gushing out.
No casualty was recorded.
The second accident was reportedly as a result of loss of control whilst driving at the Idi Oro area in Ogbomoso on Thursday.
It was learnt that the trailer tanker loaded with 45, 000 liters capacity of PMS somersaulted into the road side.
The third incident occurred along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan the same day.
The trailer tanker with registration number KUJ718XT (Abuja) carrying 45,000 litres of PMS swerved to nearby ditch and the cab caught fire immediately.
Chairman, Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande confirmed the three incidents on Friday to DAILY POST, noting that no casualties were recorded
“On getting to the scene of the accident, it was a MACK trailer tanker with registered number DEP175XB (Lagos) loaded with 33,000 litres capacity of PMS swerved into a nearby ditch and content gushing out. Our officers quickly swung into action by applying chemical foam compound to suppress flammability of the content and prevented it from catching fire from surrounding”.
On the second incident, “Upon arrival, we met a trailer tanker loaded with 45, 000 liters capacity of PMS somersaulted into the road side Immediately, we swung into action by blanketing the environment with chemical foam compound to avoid any naked fire which might result to fire incident. Properties worth millions of naira was saved by the fire service”.
