Barau welcomes Governor Yusuf to APC, pledges cooperation for Kano

 

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has welcomed the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his engagement in politics is guided by service to the people Governor Yusuf officially left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Friday, January 23, 2026, before returning to the APC on Monday, January 26.

The event took place at the Kano Government House and was attended by Senator Barau and other party leaders.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau said he was ready to work closely with Governor Yusuf and other stakeholders to address the challenges facing Kano State.

“I welcome His Excellency, the Governor of our beloved state, Kano, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, to our great party, the APC, the largest political party in Africa.

I also want to reassure the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, of my unalloyed commitment to the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda, as we work together to take our country to the next level, where governance truly works for all,” he said.
