British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says he has yet to speak with US President Donald Trump following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
Starmer made the statement in a short interview on Saturday in reaction to the US forces’ operation in Venezuela.
He said that the United Kingdom will establish the facts and consult with allies regarding the situation in Venezuela.
In reports that Trump on Saturday announced the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
“The situation in Venezuela is fast moving. We will establish all the facts and speak to allies. Our embassy in Caracas is working to ensure that all British nationals in Venezuela are supported
I haven’t spoken to Trump yet. What I can say is that the UK is not involved in any way in this operation.
“And as expected, we are focusing on British nationals in Venezuela, and we are working very closely with our embassy.
“So, I will want to talk to the president. I will talk to allies, but at the moment, I think we need to establish the facts,” he said.
