North can end terrorism through unity, collaboration – CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Northern Nigeria, has observed that the coming together of Nigerians as an entity against terrorists will play a major role to curtail the lingering security challenges in most parts of the country particularly in the northern region.

He added, “As the country approaches the general elections in 2027, some people will come up with deceptive strategies but we should focus on collective efforts to defeat our enemies. We in the North should not allow enemies of progress and to continue to have their way of causing destruction to  lives and property.”

He stated that Nigerians should not be the enemy of anybody but should work together for their progress by correcting the leaders to do the right things for the overall progress and development of the country.

Hayab lamented that there are certain elements within and outside Nigeria who are plotting to ensure the North remains divided through the targeted killing of Christians in North Central, particularly, Kogi and Kwara states.

He, therefore, called on Christians within those states not to panic, but be vigilant and prayerful as well as report any suspicious movement to relevant security agencies, while calling on security agencies to up their game and ensure such plans by enemies of peace-loving Nigerians do not succeed.

He said concerted efforts are being made in ensuring that the people in the North and Nigeria by extension, are united in order to confront their common enemies by engaging leaders of Arewa Consultative Forum, Northern Elders Forum and others in the promotion of peace in the region.

He added that Northern CAN went into understanding with the groups in the region to set up a northern reconciliation group to promote togetherness in the area.
