Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, on Thursday, paid a condolence visit to residents of Dadin Kowa in Maiyama Local Government Area following the recent attack that claimed the lives of worshippers during Isha and Taraweeh prayers.
The visit comes after the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the killing of five worshippers in the mosque attack.
Speaking during the visit, the governor described the incident as a barbaric and unacceptable act, expressing sympathy to the families of the victims, the Dadin Kowa community, and the people of Maiyama.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and wished those receiving treatment a speedy recovery.
Idris assured residents that security remains a top priority of his administration, stating that military personnel and other security agencies have been mobilised to the area to strengthen protection and prevent a recurrence.
He added that the state government would continue to support security forces in carrying out their duties.
The governor urged residents to remain calm, united and cooperative with security agencies by providing credible information to help track down those responsible.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Kebbi State.
