The faction of the National Union of Road and Transport Workers, NURTW, under the leadership of Tajudeen Baruwa has taken over the national secretariat of the union, DAILY POST reports.
The takeover happened early Monday as members of the faction stormed the union’s headquarters in Abuja.
DAILY POST reports that the NURTW factions led by Baruwa and Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, have been involved in an internal leadership tussle since 2024.
Members of the NURTW had elected MC Olumo as National President in November 2024.
However, the court ruled in favor of Baruwa when the dispute led to a lawsuit.
Despite the court ruling, MC Olumo has continued to operate as President.
