COVID-19: Nigeria records fresh 753 cases, 5 deaths

 


The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said the country logged 753 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths for Thursday.

The new infections, though fewer than the 790 on Wednesday, raised the cumulative cases to 180,661.

Active cases ballooned to 11,891.

Five new deaths were also recorded on Thursday, bringing the nation’s fatality count, since the start of the pandemic, to 2,200.

Two of the deaths occurred in Abuja, taking its COVID-19 related death toll to 172.

A total of 367 people recovered on Thursday, jacking recoveries nationwide to 166,560.

Samples tested now stand at 2,589,130, NCDC data shows.
