Nigeria facing serious security challenges – Sultan of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has said Nigeria is going through a serious security problem.

Abubakar spoke at a valedictory and welcome dinner of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) 12th General Assembly.

The event took place on Thursday in Abuja and ushered in new CAN President Rev. Daniel Okoh, NAN reports.

A Rivers indigene born in Kano, Okoh, who was elected this week, succeeds Rev. Samson Ayokunle.

The Sultan reminded Nigerians that they did not create themselves and should work for unity.

“When God was creating us, he did not ask us ‘where do you want me to bring you into the world’.

“We are to understand one another with love and respect, as our various religions teach love and peace.

“We have serious security challenges confronting us, we can be trading blame; we have a lot to do to curb this.”

The traditional leader added that Christians and Muslims need to do what pleases God.

Ahead of the 2023 election, the Sultan urged citizens to create an enabling environment for peaceful polls.

Sultan Abubakar pledged support for CAN and prayed to God to help the body to lead right.
