NSCDC bursts suspected burglary syndicate in Jigawa


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Jigawa State Command, has smashed a suspected syndicate of burglars in Hadejia Local Government, Jigawa State.

This was contained in a statement signed by the spokesman of the command, CSC Adamu Shehu, issued to newsmen.

He said six suspects were arrested in connection with the crime, while others were at large.

Shehu explained that the arrests were prompted upon receiving a complaint from one Muhammad Sani Lawal that his Shop located at Agumau Quarters in Hadejia town was burgled at around 2:30 am on Wednesday and his properties worth N3million stolen.

He said the surveillance camera (CCTV) mounted in the shop helped in identifying the suspects which eventually led to their arrests.

Some of the items stolen include One Million One Hundred Naira (N1,100,000) Cash, Seven (7) Laptop Computers, POS Terminal, Microsoft Camera, Kojak Biometric Machine, a NIMC license, Two Hundred and fairly used mobile phones.

Those arrested are: Ali Ya’u, Abubakar Isa, Mohd Musa, Haruna Shuaibu, Ibrahim Yusuf, and Tafida Ibrahim all in Hadejia Local Government Area.

He said the suspects confessed to the crime and were arraigned before Court over trespass, criminal conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property, contrary to sections 346, 342, 96, 286, 317 and punishable under sections 349, 348, 97, 287, 317 of Penal Code Law, respectively.
