Police begin manhunt for killers of Chinese man in Ebonyi

The Police in Ebonyi are looking for the gunmen who attacked a mining site close to the state’s border with Benue.

The attackers invaded the location on Saturday and opened fire on workers, killing a Chinese man.

The gunmen reportedly disarmed the police officers protecting the foreigner.

On Monday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chris Anyanwu gave an update on the incident.

“One of the policemen on duty sustained serious bullet injuries and is still receiving treatment,” he said.

Anyanwu called for prompt and credible information on the identities and whereabouts of the culprits.

Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Steve Emenike, described the murder as a “national embarrassment”.

Emenike said the gunmen rode on motorcycles to the mining site located at Otam Nwogba village in the LGA.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at a mortuary in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi capital.
