Fani-Kayode slams US President for failing to congratulate Tinubu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Femi-Fani Kayode has dragged Joe Biden, US president on social media over his failure to congratulate the Nigerian president-elect, Bola Tinubu on his victory at the just concluded presidential poll.

It was reported that the US president is yet to call or issue congratulatory statement in regards to the outcome of the February 25 polls.

The election which was allegedly manipulated, had produced Tinubu, candidate of the ruling party as winner.

Many world leaders have congratulated the former Lagos governor.

However, Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister who called out Joe Biden on his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday night, said Biden’s failure to congratulate Tinubu does not matter.

He, however, noted that “American State Department and the American Ambassador to Nigeria both congratulated Asiwaju”, asking Biden to add his voice by calling Tinubu.

He wrote, “Whether @JoeBiden calls to congratulate him or not @officialABAT is the President-elect of the biggest, richest, most populous, most advanced & most enlightened nation in Africa & the Western world’s biggest trading partner on the continent. They need us as much as we need them.

“Yes the American State Department and the American Ambassador to Nigeria both congratulated Asiwaju. For this we are eternally grateful & it reflects a measure of respect.

“However its time for Joe to pick up the phone & add his voice. We are a big nation: we deserve no less.”
