Senator’s aide shot dead in Lagos

Adeniyi Sanni, a senior aide to the senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola, has been shot dead in Lagos.

Sanni was killed on Saturday while on his way to his residence in the Isheri area of the state.

The statement issued in Abuja by the senator’s spokesperson, Kayode Odunaro said the deceased’s body was found with gunshot wounds at Toyota bus stop in the Oshodi area of Lagos State on Saturday morning.

He explained that Sanni had earlier called his wife to request the details of his vehicle papers when he was stopped at a checkpoint in the Berger area of the state by security operatives.

“The wife became troubled when she could no longer reach him on the phone after she sent all the documents to his phone’s WhatsApp.

“His apprehensive wife later called on Sanni’s associates to say she could no longer reach her husband on the phone necessitating the mobilisation of a search party.

“She was later called through the Next of Kin contact on her husband’s driving licence by passersby that the body of Sanni was dumped around Toyota Bus Stop in Oshodi with gunshot wounds.

“Senator Adeola who is involved in the ongoing ministerial nominees screening at the Senate is devastated by the sad news, as Sanni was his close aide for over two decades.

“The Nigeria Police Force is investigating the killing”, the statement stated.
