Following the rising cases of insecurity in Kogi State, the Okehi Local Government Authority has directed Christian congregations located on the outskirts of the local government area to temporarily suspend worship services with immediate effect
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Maliki Rasaki Ozovehe.
According to the statement, the Executive Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Hon. Amoka Eneji Monday, said the decision was taken as a preventive measure to safeguard lives and property, stressing that the safety of residents remains the highest priority of the administration.
He assured that the local government would work closely with religious leaders and relevant security agencies to put adequate security measures in place and ensure that worship centres are properly secured before services resume.
The statement added that all pastors and leaders of the affected churches are requested to meet with the chairman for an urgent and important deliberation on the way forward.
It also appealed for the understanding and cooperation of all religious bodies and residents of the area.
